What Causes Swelling And Redness In Finger Spreading To The Palms?
I dont want to be a worry wart, but here goes. My son had an infection in his 4th finger. It was red, swollen, and the redness was traveling into the palm of his hand. He is on doxcycline, and it is less red, but now, the reddened skin feels leathery. Do we need to see a doc, does he need iv antibiotics?

Hello,
If you just started Doxycycline you have to wait, but if you are in the end of therapy you have to consult with your doctor. Meantime keep a good hygiene, keep it dry, and use locally Betadine.
