Hello,

Your other knee which had not undergone surgery is swollen now. The following are few probable causes of swelling of knee joint:
1) Osteoarthritis
2) Rheumatoid arthritis
3) Gout
4) Acute bursitis
5) Acute meniscal tears after an injury
6) Joint effusion due to infection

Treatment always depends upon the cause. Please do consult an orthopedic surgeon so that he can examine you in person and do the necessary tests to arrive at a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment. You can take ibuprofen for pain relief temporarily.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
