What Causes Swelling And Stiffness In Legs Of An Elderly Person?

My father is 87 years old and in a nursing home. He has leg edema. He is on a high dose of lasix (not sure of correct spelling). He is in a wheelchair during the day. His legs are very swollen and tight. Is there any other treatment for his condition? Thank in advance for your help.

I really appreciate your concern, underlying cause of oedema is matter of concern and most probably it is due to renal pathology or cardio-pulmonary disease and these needs treatment hope this information helps.
