What Causes Swelling And Stiffness In The Fingers?

My forefinger and middle finger on my right hand are swollen and stiff. This started in December and I started using a anti-inflammatory cream nightly and the swelling stopped after about a month. It just started to happen again over the weekend. I have upped the use of the anti-inflammatory cream. Is this arthiritis or something I should be more concerned with?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, It sounds like arthritis but it would be good to see a doctor for an exam and some lab tests. Some forms of arthritis are more treatable than others.
