What Causes Swelling And Stiffness In The Index Finger?

My index finger is swollen and very stiff. It started yesterday with a little discomfort. Today it is noticeably larger than my other index finger and I can not bend it at all. I am unable to grab anything involving this finger as well. It is warm to the touch and the knuckle seems to be the source. At first I thought it was the onset of a wart, thats what it felt like (i ve had those before) but this is different.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a local inflammation. As of now you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like Aceclofenac/Seratiopeptdase for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopedics and get evaluated. In that case we have to look for conditions like arthritis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
