What Causes Swelling And Stiffness In The Right Arm Of The Heart Patient?
Hello, On Saturday after helping his neighbor stretch the floor liner of his new pool, my dad started to develop swelling and stiffness in his right arm just below elbow. My Mom said he is having a little pain while moving it, but she had to tie his shoes and help him out of a shirt today because of pain while moving. His blood pressure is 145/85. He has had open heart surgery withing the last 7 years, life long heart patient on Levonex. He is to have surgery on Wednesday to help increase circulation in his legs. He is in bed now, with pain only in his right arm.

Conditions like deep vein thrombosis or acute limb Ischemia must be ruled out.
Cellulitis is another possibility. Consult a general surgeon and get evaluated. A vascular doppler is required to make a diagnosis.
