What Causes Swelling Below The Knee Cap?

I have a swelling aout the size of 2 inches in diameter three inches below knee cap on left side of leg bone on my right leg . I injured my leg one year ago and sprained tendons in ankle and foot but not in the upper area of the leg. No pain, just feels like a swollen area.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to a knee bursitis which is an inflammation of the bursa.
I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.
I also suggest to use cold compresses for local application and avoid activities that can trigger the symptoms.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
