Hello,
You are suffering from IBS, have swelling around the ankle for a couple of weeks. Swollen ankles with pitting edema and tightness commonly occurs due to fluid retention. Limit the salt intake. Avoid salty snacks and food. Your symptoms may also be indicative of vein issues,
varicose veins,
overweight,
malnutrition, infection. Take home made balanced nutritious food and loose weight if
obese. In case it is due to infection it will subside after a course of antibiotics.
Medical conditions like DVT,
arteritis,
thyroid issues, blood clot, autoimmune causes, heart and
kidney issues etc., can cause such symptoms. You are suggested to avoid overuse of your legs, avoid sedentary lifestyle, do not stand or sit at the same position for a very long time. Wearing compression stocking will be relieving. You should keep your leg elevated on a stool while sitting or on a pillow when on bed. You should get clinically examined by a GP, get blood tests and all required investigations done for detailed study. The factor causing you discomfort will be treated at the earliest. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
