What Causes Swelling In Front Of The Shin?

I HAVE SWELLING IN MY LEFT LEG IN THE FRONT ON MY SHIN. THERE IS ALSO LIKE A HOLE THAT IS NOT ON THE OTHER SIDE THAT I CAN STICK MY FINGER IN. I DON T REMEMBER HITTING IT ON ANYTHING. WHAT COULD THIS BE AND SHOULD I BE WORRIED? COULD THIS BE A BLOOD CLOT?
