What Causes Swelling In The Ankle After An Injury?
Hi! I got hit with a softball about five hours ago at a game I had, and I just wanted to make sure that there wasn t any serious injury to it. My ankle is swollen, it hurts to walk on, and when it is stationary, it gets this weird feeling, almost tingly.
It may be ligament sprain. As a first line of management, you can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Diclofenac for pain relief. Apply ice packs and keep the affected foot elevated using pillow. Generally the symptoms will settle in couple of days, if symptoms persist you can consult an orthopedic and get an MRI scan done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
