What Causes Swelling In The Dislocated Ankle?

Hi, I had a dislocated ankle in 2006, Lately it started swelling whether I stand for a long time or not. I keep it warm and massage it with Castor oil. One day it will go down and fill up the next day. It does not hurt. Should i have the Dr. that treated me suck the water w/needle to prevent deterioration of the bones or what else can I do?

It can be a ligament injury. I would suggest you to take MRI test for the ankle which will help us to confirm the diagnosis. If there is any ligament tear then you need reconstruction of the ligament. If there is any chondral damage or synovitis then it is better to debridement through ankle arthroscopy can be done.
