What Causes Swelling In The Elbow?

I was recently putting up a trampoline with enclosure. While threading the poles throught the top of the enclosure, I pushed the pole and it seemed to be stuck. I continued trying to push it through which eventually caused pain to the inside of my elbow just above the crease. This was about 1 week ago. No there is a bit of swelling to the area. What could be the problem?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You seem to have used considerable force in trying to push the pole. This has caused the over contraction of the muscles of the forearm resulting in injury to the ligaments and tendon which is attached to the bone on the inside of the elbow just above the crease.

This needs to be iced and a compression bandage to be applied. With time and rest the problem will be solved.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr George Verghese, Orthopaedic Surgeon
