What Causes Swelling In The Eyes And A Red Rash On The Cheekbones?

Hello, Sometimes I wake up with swollen eyes, mostly the left, the skin is also red with a rash from my eyebrows to my cheekbones. I take a 24-hour allergy medication. I was given, prednisone, an antibiotic, and stronger allergy med (?). Nothing helps. Some days it doesn t happen at all. Cortisone helps the rash but doesn t make it go away. Any suggestions.

Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to get yourself reviewed by a hypersensitivity expert or allergy specialist to rule out hereditary angioedema or any need of enzyme replacement too.

Hypersensitivity skin patch and prick testing may also be needed. Meanwhile, continue current treatment.
