What Causes Swelling In The Face Of An Elderly Person?

My mom wakes up with her entire face swollen. She gets huge water sacks under her eyes and her lids are swollen making her eyes almost shut. We have had a CMP blood work up and it's not her kidneys. We have changed her bedroom with different pillows and blankets-no help. This has been going on for the past 3 months and getting worse. She is 85. No one seems to have an answer.

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

I didn't understood what you meant by CMP because ruling out Kidney problem is very important in your mother case and I need to be very sure that right test has been done before declaring that Kidney's are fine . So Kindly let me know what tests was done and what are the test reports.

If it's not kidney then other possibility is Low Protein levels in Blood . In that case you need to test her Serum Albumin levels and if it's low she requires a high protein diet with Protein Powder supplementation daily.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.
