What Causes Swelling Of The Lower Extremities When Suffering From Diabetes?
my 85 yo grandmother has CHF, diabetes. She has been in hospital since Monday, and has developed several infected sores, blood blisters on her feet, and does not seem herself some of the time. She still has significant swelling of the lower extremeties, and gets short of breath more often. Should I call her family to visit her?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Cardiac failure is the cause for the edema/swelling of the lower extremities. 2. In a diabetic, unless under control, any infection is serious. 3. At this age and associate diabetes and cardiac failure, it can become critical. However, if the family is far, they need to come. If near, watch out for her oxygen saturation and based on that can be decided. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
