I recently had a large blister on my small toe, it broke and caused damage resulting in an wound, I have been treating it correctly with proper cleaning, antibiotic gel and dressing, it is healing but at the same time I am experiencing swelling on the top of my foot and ankle, there is no signs of infection but I am experiencing pain, the swelling does subside once I prop it and apply a cool wrap

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be boil or furanculitis with secondary wound infection. Other possibilities like diabetes with secondary infection or actinomycetes infection etc. Until examination is done send the discharge to culture sensitivity it is difficult to say what it is. Continue antibiotic like Amoxicillin clavulanic acid 625 twice a day for five days. Tab.Metronidazole thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
