What Causes Swollen Ankle And Foot While Having Rod In Hip?

I am 88 years young but in 2013 m y left hip and femor bone fractured. I am very healthy and I weigh 110 pounds but I have lost 5inches in my height . I notices the last 2 days my ankle and foot are swollen . I have a metal rod in my left Hip area. Thankyou for your help My email is YYYY@YYYY Josephine Carleton I am Italian AND I EAT VERY HEALTHY

I really appreciate your concern, if this is orthopedic injuries (Fracture ) so such swelling is very likely and some time this could be long lasting till everything get healed, only matter of concern would be infection and blood circulation disturbances and these need to be ruled out, else this is nothing to worry keep the leg in elevated position, hope this information helps, take care.
