What Causes Swollen Knot At Back Of The Leg?

I have not suffered an injury that I m aware of. Fairly sendentary lifestyle now. But I developed a swollen knot at the back of my leg behind the knee that stiffens when I try to walk on it. No numbness anywhere, just the tight, aching knot behind my knee. No insurance or money for the emergency room. Any suggestions?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The stiff knot at the back of the knee can be related to bursitis or a torn fascia. It needs a proper examination to find the cause. Giving rest to the knee and avoiding all the painful activities will help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
