What Causes Swollen Lower Leg And Red Color In Skin?

My husband, age 75, has swollen ankles, feet and lower leg. There is also a deep red coloring of the skin in streaks and blotches, from his sock top down. No itching, no burning, no pain. can cover lower leg and ankle, then be gone in a few days, especially if he doesn t wear socks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an early sign of cellulitis.
Consult a physician and get evaluated.
You might probably improve with antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
