What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck And Armpit?

My daughter (21) started out with swollen glands in neck and armpit and a sore throat, severe chill and ached from the chest up. Next day aches were gone but her back and neck were extremly sore. Today she has a pounding headache and sharp pain in her left arm pit. She says it hurts to talk or move her arm.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Swollen lymph nodes in the neck may be due to reactionary to infection in the throat. But arm pit lymphnode may not enlarged in upper respiratory tract infection. check for local infection at breast tissue etc. Use salt water gargling thrice a day for five days, use water vapour inhalation thrice a day for five days. Use tablet amoxiclav 625 mg twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
