What Causes Swollen Stomach In Ulcerative Colitis And Chron's Disease?

My daughter is 38 yrs old and has had ulcerative colitis and chron's disease for over 6 yrs. Dr's have prescribed several different medications and so far she has not gone into remission. She is presently on Stellaris (hope I spelled it correct). She has taken about 3 injections and has not had any flare ups, however, her belly and body is very swollen and she feels very uncomfortable. Do you think it might be her diet? She tries to eat healthy but she is a teacher and doesn't have time during the day to really watch what she eats....

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
Your query is appreciated, if this is the crohn's disease with ulcers the it is the surgical condition and it needs to be managed in that way only, in chronic condition the surgery is highly indicative and what the symptoms she has may not be due to diet but it is the disease only that cause the symptoms of abdomen distension hope this information and advise helps.
