What Causes Swollen Tonsil And Eye Infection In A Child?

HI . i wonder if you could help me . My Baby is turning 1 year next week , he started getting eye infection , then a bad chest , his tonsil are swollen so he does not want to eat . Last night he started to get Puss out of his ears . His nose is also running alot and there was alittle blood that came out with the slime . He was put on antibiotics yesterday - he is moaning and crying the whole time . Is this just a normal flu or could it be more serious ? Melanie

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

This is unlikely to be a normal flu, but rather a bacterial infection. Anyhow since he is on antibiotics from yesterday only, let us wait for 2 days. It will take 48-72 hours for them to act. Till then, continue drugs including eye drops and nasal decongestant. If no improvement in 2 days, or if swelling develops around eyes, kindly take him back to pediatrician as this might need further workup and treatment accordingly

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
