What Causes Tenderness Around The Xiphoid Process After Suffering From Diarrhea And Vomiting?
At Christmas our whole family experienced a severe flu epidemic, sudden onset, both diahrea and vomiting at the same time for 24 hour. I am 61, have ALWAYS vomited to the point of dry heaves and exhaustion. THis flu bout has caused tenderness around the xyphoid process area and I have not been able to eat normal amounts of food at each meal since that flu. Do I need to see a physician and what kind do I go to?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, I had gone through the history given here and I could say that it is all depends upon the severity of disease if the vomiting is severe and not being controlled and causes the dehydration then you may need I/V fluid, if the condition is mild and can control with symptomatic medicine like Domperidone then no need to see the doctor. It is very important to confirmed the diagnosis with doctor because it may not the flu infection but could be something else and for better diagnosis it must to see the doctor. hope this information helps.
