What Causes Tenderness Outside My Knee And Why Am I Unable To Bed With Knee Pain?

I'm a 49 yr old female, 5 ft 8", 123lbs. After not playing for 20 years, I started playing competitive racquetball 3 weeks ago. I play 3 times a week for about 2 hours straight. Im having some knee pain which I don't recall ever having. The left knee especially feels a little weak and unsteady and tender on the outside and inside of knee. The pain is only a 2/10. My knees also are swelling a little bit and I have more difficulty bending them especially backwards. Do I have a knee sprain?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in the knee that you have is more likely to be due to osteoarthritic changes in the knee joint. Decrease in joint lubricants causes such symptoms.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
