What Causes The Constant Feeling Of Urination In Urethra?

I have a constant feeling in my urethra of needing to urinate. All tests I have had done for infection have been negative. I have been suffering with this for 6 months with only the odd day of relief. If i do not have an infection what is causing this feeling and will it ever subside?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

It is required that you get tested for non gonococcal urethritis. Urethra infection can be due to many bacteria and some of the organisms cannot be found on usual testing. Therefore special testing and culture is required to know if you have any infection which is from such bacteria.

Another possibility can be a stricture in the urethra. It will help to consult the urologist and if required then get a micturatiing cystourogram which is MCU and this will tell if there are any strictures causing obstruction to the flow of urine. Please do not worry.
