What Causes The Feeling Of The Bed Tilting And Fall Out When Lying Down?

As soon I go to bed I lay down on my left side. After about 10 minutes I change position by trying to lay on my right side but suddenly I feel like the bed is tilting and I have a feeling that I will fall out of bed; it is a scary experience and at that point I am confused and sweating profusely.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and they are suggestive of peripheral vertigo.

There is a condition called as BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), where symptoms such as dizziness and imbalance appear when changing the head/neck position. It is usually caused due to middle ear problem.

You would benefit from taking betahistine tablets.

Vestibular adaptation exercises would also help you.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Best wishes,
