What Causes The Holes On The Ear Due To Piercing To Close During Tonsillectomy?

I recently got my tonsils removed after a series of throat and ear infections, caused by glandular fever, over a few years. I have had my ears pierced for around 10 years now (I'm 20 years old) and despite long periods of not wearing earrings the holes have never closed up. Over the few weeks I was recovering from my tonsillectomy the holes in my ears have closed up completely, even though I was wearing earrings in the lead up to my operation. I just wondered if this was normal, and why this would be? I wondered if it was to try and fight infection.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain closing of ear holes has nothing to do tonsillectomy operation and as you did not wear the earring for long duration then
the process of scarring and closing of the ear holes must have progressed and as you have worn the earring that time complete closure might have not taken place but by now complete closure has occurred as it was already initiated..
You need not to worry about it as there is nothing serious and there is not correlation with tonsillectomy surgery..
