What Causes The Pain And Bleeding?

i am currently under the care of an OBGYN and am waiting for a procedure to have a polyp removed from my cervix. I have abnormal bleeding at least once a month. I am having lower back pain on my left side right now and bled this morning after my walk. What causes the pain? is my uterus contracting?
