What Causes Throat Pain And Stiffness In Chest Muscles While Coughing?
It all started when i had bronchitus and i kept smoking ciggaretes i had a violent cough for about 4 years and havet smoked for a year my adams apple feels stretched like it spread apart into two seperate adams apple and my throat hurts real bad when i cough and a real tight pain right beloew my right chest muscle what do you think my adams apple is that way and why is my chest tight its really annoying me i have a appointment at ent this week

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have throat pain and stiffness in chest muscles while coughing. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sore throat , viral pharyngitis , acid reflux , allergy or tonsillitis . I would suggest you to take liquid diet , do warm saline gargles and apply warm compresses on neck . Also avoid eating spicy and acidic food , take anti histamine like benadryl and avoid eating at late night . If condition doesn't get well then consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and examination with laryngoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin along with anti inflammatory or may refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux problem . Apply warm compresses on chest and throat.
