Hi,
A persistent sense that something is lodged in the throat and feeling of tightness is known as globus pharyngeus or the globus sensation. The most common causes of globus pharyngeus are anxiety or stress and
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a form of acid reflux that causes stomach's contents to travel back up the food pipe or oesophaus and sometimes into the throat. This can result in muscle spasms that trigger feelings of an object caught in the throat. Syp. Gaviscon, Domperidon,
Lansoprazole and Lactulose in case of
constipation may be taken as treatment option. Other causes of globus pharyngeus are
panic attack, allergies, infections like tonsilitis and
strep throat, goiter, muscle tension dysphonia etc. Treatment depends on causes. Some investigations like barium swallow study, endoscopy of upper GIT, throat swab for C/S, skin prick test, RAST test, thyroid glands ultrasound etc to find out the underlying causes for such type of clinical symptoms and then treat them accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
