Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Today after running 3 miles on a treadmill my legs were tight. I often get anterio shin splints and tightness... while i was stretching I realised that there was a small bump/lump/ball pushing up from under the skin/muscle. About midway between ankle and knee on the anterior surface... It doesnt hurt really... but its HARD If i let my ankle relax into plantar flexion it is more visible with lighting... and doesnt hurt. If however I dorsiflex, the ball looks to sink back into the muscle and causes some pain. IS this what they call a shint splint? or is it a REalllly tight muscle ?? or damage/inury to a small part that is inflammed? Is it normal and harmless? Thanks!! :) Ryan

What Causes Tightness Of Legs After Treadmilling?
Hello, The symptoms seem to be related to a strained muscle. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms. I also recommend using Voltaren gel for local application. I suggest using cold compresses in the area of the pain. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
