What Causes Tightness On The Left Side Of The Body?

I have been experiencing fullness or tightness in my neck-mainly on the left side. No sore throat, but sometimes I feel sinus and ear pressure on the left side only. sometime I feel my voice is a little hoarse also. I also experience what I would describe as acid reflux type burning in my throat. My biggest concern is the fullness feeling-i have noticed it over the last couple month here and there, but it has increase drastically in the last couple of weeks. I have also been under a great deal of stress as of late.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a muscle spasm or local inflammation. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:

- a cervical spine X ray study
- an ultrasound of the soft tissues of the neck
- complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
