What Causes Tingling Sensation During Urination Despite Taking SMZ-TMP For UTI?

I went to the doctor for a uti and was prescribed sulfamethoxazole-tmp ds (2 pills twice a day for 3 days). I ve taken the bills, but still experience tingling after I urinate. I was taking azo pills as well and finished those the same time as my prescription. Any advice on how to stop this? Looking online it seems as if a sitz bath with baking soda or apple cider vinegar may help. Any suggestions?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

Even after the infection has been controlled through medication, inflammatory reaction persists for some time and this could be the cause of the sensation. Else, the infection is persisting if the medication is insufficient, in which case a culture test should be done to prescribe specific medication. Please do not self-medicate. Take the help of your health care provider and plan further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam, OBGYN
