What Causes Tiredness And Lot Of Acne When Taking Topamax?

Since I ve been taking Topamax I am always tired and have had a lot of acne . Is that normal? I am 36 yrs old and I never had acne as a kid. It seems like when I back off on the meds I get less acne. I hear a lot of of bad stuff about this medicine and I am concerned about my long term memory. I fear it is already fading from all my past medications.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to Topamax adverse effects. It does not affect your long time memory, but since it seems that you do not tolerate it better, I would recommend discussing with your doctor on the possibility of switching to another AED.

I would like to know more about your past medical history, in order to be able to suggest other possible treatment options.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
