What Causes Tremors After Taking Depakote For Epilepsy?
Hi. I have been taking 1000 mg of depakote pd for epilepsy for several years. I developed a tremor when tired or nervous that was mildly irritating but has progressed to quite a tremor in my left hand. I noticed I have lost dexterity in that had in the last few months. I am wondering if I am developing the signs of PD and should be concerned or if this is just the depakote and would go away if I were to switch meds.
Hello Welcome here. Depakote can cause tremors sometimes. But if the tremors are persistent and as you mentioned that you are losing dexterity in your hand, i would like to know if the power in your hand is ok or not? I would also advise you to go for a CT scan of head. Change of drug is not advised as you are taking depakote since long. Change can cause recurrence of epilepsy. Please consult your doctor. Thanks.
