What Causes Tremors In The Hand?

My husband is 68 years old and several weeks ago his right hand began to be shy at times. He has also suffered from being unsteady on his feet for the last six months (as far as I know) and has fallen several times. He says that he walks very slowly especially up and down steps to avoid falling. He is like an old man. He has type 2 diabetes and afib and drinks way too much wine, is anxious and worries a lot. Is on trulicity and metformin as well as multiple other meds. His endocrinologist and primary have recommended a neurologist.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello Deborah!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

Your husband symptoms could be related to small ischemic strokes in the brain or Parkinsons syndrome.
For this reason, I would recommend consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and some tests:
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests
- a brain MRI study
- a nerve conduction study for polyneuropathy.
You should discuss with his doctor on the above tests.
Hope to have been helpful!
Best regards!
