What Causes Trouble In Breathing During Acid Reflux?
Hello sir , when ever I have gerd or acid reflux , my breathing becomes little tight and sometime shortness of breath, burn or pain aroung chest area ,I have done me EKG and echocardio gram more than ten times ,chest x-ray,all the blood test, everything is normal, I am worried and Little stressed,?
In GERD, there is reflux of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus. This is what causes burning pain around the chest area, medically known as heartburn.
The stomach contents which have refluxed into the esophagus may be aspirated into the lungs especially when the patient is supine. This causes shortness of breath.
Simple measures which afford relief from GERD include: avoiding tight clothing, sleeping with the head end of the bed raised. Medications for GERD include proton-pump inhibitors such as omeprazole/pantoprazole/rabeprazole.
