What Causes Urge Bowel Incontinence After Treatment Of Diverticulitis?

Hello, was treated for diverticulitis with two weeks antibiotics. Finished drugs ten days ago, was doing great but now have frequent urge to go, with muscle cramping in lower abdominal and pain in my rectum. Stools are very soft, and very thin. I am still trying to do low fiber diet, thinking it would help healing. I have taken dicyclomine 20 mg, helping a little. Advice needed? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The antibiotics have killed your good intestinal flora and bad bacteria have taken over causing loose stools. Try to take Lactobacillus sachet once a day for three days, and if it still does not improve show a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ankit
