What Causes Urinary Retention After Urinary Tract Infections?
Hello, I am a 25 year old relatively healthy female. A year ago I was diagnosed with urinary retention after 2 UTIs within6 months. I have seen two urologist's who can't find any cause for this. Urodynamics testing showed nothing out of the ordinary other than a disconnect between my brain and the nerves in my bladder, because of this I am usually carrying a residual of 3-400mls of urine on a good day but usually more. Flomax SID has not helped and am now on Bethanechol 25 mg TID to see if this will make a difference. I also continue to get UTI's roughly every 6 months or so. This last UTI i was not symptomatic at all, they happened to catch it on a follow up exam. I do not want to have to use intermittent cathederizaion for the rest of my life, any other suggestions on how to improve my situation since there doesn't seem to be any answers?
