What Causes Urinary Tract Infection After Taking Augmentin?

I had a sinus infection and took augmentin for 7 days. On the 8th day I got a bad (in the words of my physician) UTI and am now on macrobid. Tomorrow I am supposed to get blood drawn for tests ordered by my Rheumotologist and I am afraid the tests will be skewed by the antibiotics. Should I postpone the blood tests. There are 4 of 7 days left of the macrobid. Thank you. Jan YYYY@YYYY

Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

If you had been diagnosed UTI after complete course of augmentin then there will be more chances of having resistance strains of bacteria.

Also,if you will go for blood testing then there is chances of having negative results,so ideally it should be done before taking antibiotics or if you want to get the organism causing UTI then you must stop antibiotic for at least 48 hours.

You should see your treating doctor and discuss it to him before stopping any antibiotic.
