I am 63 years old, last menstrual cycle when I was 37 years old. Within the last year, I ve had a slight pink discharge once a month for a total of 5 times. Each one lasts less than a day, often with the associated cramps I experienced when I was menstruating regularly. The sour odour is there as well. However, today is day two of the very light discharge. The only meds I take are HRT (estrogel and prometrium )and Zoplicone. What is my body trying to tell me?
Hello, Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. In the current scenario, the possible causes for the discharge are- 1. infection, 2. trauma, 3. hormonal imbalance, 4. erosion of the cervix, atrophy of the vaginal mucosa, 5. endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial polyps and metaplasia. I would ask you to get a complete evaluation including cervical and vaginal swabs, pap smear and if necessary a colposcopy, sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route and urinalysis. Further management can be planned accordingly. Hope this helps.
