What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Intercourse?

I am a 42 year old female who had intercourse last night and had some vaginal bleeding today. I thought it was residual blood from my period which ended on Saturday, but just now it was a bit brighter red. Just a few months ago, during a routine pap, my doctor found endometrial cells. That pap was taken right after my period, as well. What should I do?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. In the current scenario, local causes like erosion of the cervix, polyps of the cervix and the endometrium have to be excluded. Also, the best time to take the pap smear is not soon after the end of a period, but two weeks after the first day of your period. I would ask you to see a specialist for a proper clinical assessment and a speculum exam to detect the cause of the bleeding. You will need styptics to arrest the bleeding while the proper cause is attended to. Abstain from further intercourse until you are well healed. Take care.
