What Causes Vaginal Spotting During Early Pregnancy?

Hi I just tested positive to pregnancy a week ago, thinking I was about 6 weeks along, today my bloods came back showing around the 4 week mark. I saw the doctor because I feared miscarriage as I was bleeding/spotting she sent me for an ultrasound which showed a thick lining but no sac yet... My question is if I had of miscarried would the lining have gone with the sac? If so, by my lining still being thick that could potentially mean I m still in the game right?

I really appreciate your concern, first of all it is the pregnancy most doubtful as no fetal is detected so it may not be miscarriage because it may not be pregnancy, it is better to have second opinion or get done another ultrasonography test hope this information helps.
