What Causes Varicose Veins In Legs With Discoloration Of Foot?

Hello Doctor, I would like to know about varicose veins. I developed them on my both legs 8 years ago when I was pregnant carrying my younger one. They have not gone since then but increased on my left leg. I have no pain due to them but I can notice some discolouration of left foot compared to right foot. How serious is my problem? What could be future consequences? Please advise me. Thanks Bhargavi

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Varicose veins are known to develop in few during pregnancy because of the pressure exerted by uterus on lower limb veins, they gradually disappear ,but in few they may persist or increase. They may cause pain and rarely deep vein thrombosis. Get ultrasound and Doppler scan done to know the extent of varicose veins.

Thank you,
take care
