What Causes Veins To Swell Up?

My vein has become swollen on my left wrist,and it is extremely painful such that I cant even lift my hand or do anything with my left hand as it hurts very badly.I use my right hand to lift my left hand and place it in a comfortable position.This pain on my wrist restricts me from doing any action with it,cant rotate-raise-or even let my hands down loosely,even gravity seems to hurt my wrists cause of the swollen vein. The pain started two days ago after getting a massage from my cousin around my wrist area as I had slight pain already existing around my wrist,which I believe occurred cause I have been crossing my chest with my left arm and sleeping on it since past few days..so,she happened to apply a lot of pressure around the area and massaged it after which the pain worsened,and it was not half as bad prior to the massage. I would like to know what remedies could help me soothe the pain?

Respected madam, hi I have evaluated your query thoroughly.
It`s due to ligament stretching during heavy massage procedure.
Can perform some actions at home for 2 days , getting better is fine else consult in ER.
*Ice application over the affected part 3-4 times a day.
*In my clinic I prescribe penicillin group of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory
drugs to have faster relief according to evaluation of severity clinically.
*Keep the affected arm elevated as much as possible because dependancy
will worsen pain and symptoms.
*Local analgesic spray also will help to great extent.
