What Causes Vomiting After Taking Acyclovir?

My boyfriend has taken acyclovir for 3 days and by the 3rd night began vomiting and having terrible stomach pains and has continued to vomit anything for the last 15 hours. Could this be a side effect and should he stop taking it? Or could it be the flu and he should continue the pills when he feels better?

Acyclovir is used for antiviral treatment in herpes etc (viral fever etc) .
In few patients this may develop hyper acidity , nausea , vomiting abdominal discomfort . These are common symptoms associated with few drugs , so your BF develop vomiting.
Need not to stop drug , rather take some antacid and also take some proton pump inhibitors like pantaprazole-d once or twice in day on empty stomach .
When such patient visit with these symptoms I advise them to take pantaprazole- on empty stomach two times in day and accyclovir after meal .
Since this is a prescription medicine so for prescription consult your treating physician.
