What Causes Vomiting And Swelling In The Lips?

Hi my mum is 87 in good health but over the last few months she has suddenly vomited, it lasts for 24 hours then settles down and she’s ok...when it first happened she blamed it on meat as she said the vomit was brown...also her lips swell up and bruise. Anyway she has had two episodes of vomiting very close together within the last two months, always brown fluid.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dear vomiting with brown color may be due to she may suffering from bleeding peptic ulcer or esophageal varices.
Until endoscopic examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Upper GI endoscopy, take tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week.
If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
