hi doc...my mother have a symptom n it occurs once or twice a year...she is 65+..n this symptom is she vomits 5 to 6 times n only deep green liquid comes out of her mouth...basically somewhat like bile....pls tell me wht has happend to her?.........nimi
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your Mother and understood your concerns. Recurrent green vomiting can be due to the following reasons: The green mean it is bile that is secreted into the first part of the duodenum. When there is obstruction distal to bile duct opening into the duodenum, it is certainly responsible for vomiting as a secondary phenomenon and thus the bile also comes out. Another reason can be lax pyloric and lower esophageal sphincter allowing retrograde flow of bile. The causes can be stricture, cancer or any other benign cause. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Upper GI Endoscopy. CT scan of the abdomen. Tests of blood for CBC, liver and kidney function. Treatment in the form of a PPI, Metoclopramide or Domperidone and antacid. And further management as per the cause found.
