What Causes Vomiting?

I am 70 years old. I am staying at my daughter s home, 6 hours from my own. This morning she and her partner were out walking the twins and the dog, and I made my own espresso coffee from her partner s stash. A couple of hours later, I moved some boxes from my car into their basement. SHortly after I began to feel queasy. Except for the bagel I had with the coffee, I ve not eaten anything today. No appetite. About 8 hours after drinking the coffee, I had to lie down, and two hours after that I threw up, and there was coffee in the vomit. I ve vomited 3 times total, giving up what seems like a coupe of gallons of fluid, all tainted with coffee. My medical care person recently changed me from ranitidine to omeprozole to manage gastric reflux. I m wondering if that could be part of the problem. The meprozole is sold over the counter and says to take a maximum of two weeks. I called the doctor with that concern and he said to go ahead and take it every day as I was taking the ranitidine. The ranitidine replaced Nexium a year or so ago, because my Medicare supplemental insurance would not cover the Nexium. I am feeling somewhat better after the last vomit session, and have made a cup of mint tea to rehydrate myself. My daughter and her family are at a meeting, and they are concerned that I might have something contagious.
