What Causes Weakness In Legs And Headaches After Bowel Movements?
Hi I take slim tea for my chronic constipation as this is the only thing that help me to use my bowls. I have been in and out of hospitals and doctors, their conclusion is I need to eat more fruit and vegies and drink lots of water. I have been eating these food for most of my life I am now 48. I find that when I need to use my bowls now my legs go really weak and I get very sharp head ache pains. Why is this happening? Can you help?
During bowel movement there's is the possibility of defecation associated syncope. Maybe due to excessive straining while defecation leads to increased intraabdominal pressure leads to the decreased venous return lead to decreased cardiac output so weakness and syncope. This basis vagal reaction also may lead to weakness during defecation.
Eat more green leafy vegetables, keep your stools always ready to pass. Avoid straining while defecation. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
